I wanted to give you a few updates on our process and explain a bit about where we are currently.
First of all, we are scheduled for our home study on February 14th, at 10:30 in the morning. Needless to say, we covet your prayers. Getting our home study completed will open the doors for a bunch of new paper work. Such as:
1. Grants!! We are in the process of applying for a few different grants, some of which are matching grants. But until we get the home study completed, the are at a stand still.
2. Applications for agencies.
Now let me explain that a little bit.
Faithful Adoption Consultants (FAC) is, well...a consulting firm. They are not your average agency and do not actually have any specific mother's that they are aligned with. Instead they work as an advocator for the adoptive family and an advisor. They work with adopting families to find an agency which matches their criteria. Also, they work across the U.S. to find a match (although they have a few select agencies that they tend to work with). Well, what does this mean?
1. We don't know the exact cost. The range they gave us was $35,000 to $50,000. We set our max budget at $35,000.
2. We won't know the exact cost until we are matched. Meaning, we won't know how all the money is allocated until we are matched.
We will could potentially have a very short time frame in which to gather the funds necessary, because many of FAC tends to run much faster then a normal adoption route. In fact I've read stories where the family was selected and the baby was born from anywhere between 3 months to 1 day after the selection.
Although that is SO very exciting, it does bring with it some complications. We are not rushing but still diligently working on our paper work, and once it is out there...it could happen at any point. All that we are waiting for would be for the birth mother to select us.
It is hard that there isn't really any specifics to supply, but we are confident in the Lord's provision.
Please continue to pray with us in this endeavor!
